Who Is The Pack Leader?

farl publishing

I’ll admit that he looks like he is enjoying his job as pack leader, but it’s not his/her job, it’s yours.

My friend has the attitude that her dogs should be allowed to do whatever they want [with the exception of constantly running away because this causes her a lot of stress and a fair bit of money]. As a result her dogs do what all pack animals do in the absence of a leader, they step up into that role, even though they are not emotionally suited to the position.

The dogs suffer from separation anxiety because they believe that it is their job to protect her and if they cannot see her they get stressed. One of her dogs has eaten through the blinds and broken a window trying to get out.

My friend believes that it is cruel to set rules, boundaries and limitations, and no amount of talking from me or her friends will change her mind.

Recently her dogs have begun to be more aggressive and she still cannot see the relationship between her lack of leadership and their behaviour.

Be the pack leader, your dog will love you for it.

Actually, he’ll love you anyway but he will be happier, and that is important, isn’t it?
