"The dog is a gentleman; I hope to go to his heaven, not man's." – Mark Twain, Letter to W D Howells, 4/2/1899

Pond Dog.

My good lady resurrected the pond that has been buried for nearly thirty years. It’s not far from our backdoor and Honey fell into it when she was a pup. That was the day that she learned the true meaning of the word NO!

After a lot of hard work the pond re-emerged, complete with half a dozen fish and a pump that clogs up every couple of weeks.

Honey was very interested in why we were spending so much time in a spot that had seemed to have been abandoned.

The wire in the photo is there to catch some of the falling leaves and to stop the birds from having fish for dinner. So far it has worked very well.

  1. Anne took a dunk in mom’s koi pond last year when the lily pads got so thick they covered the top and she thought she could walk on them. Needless to say, mom refused to put real lily pads in the pond this year.
